Community Communauté & Bénévolat

When asked about their favorite part of LILA, families come back systematically with three things: the academic programs, the teachers and the community. For many of our families, the LILA community, including its teachers, staff and fellow families, is an extended family. Whether parents want to be part of something larger than themselves or whether they’re simply looking to build their own local family because they are far away from home, our community is one of the things that sets LILA apart.

Indeed, each campus is home to a Parents’ Association that is responsible for community building and putting on events that welcome all families to engage, participate, and enjoy. Some highlights include annual events such as:

The Parents’ Associations’ impact extends beyond these events by also inviting experts to host parenting workshops for families to address some of the questions and concerns that come up with raising children today.

Most of these are volunteer-led efforts that help make LILA the special place that it is. All parents are encouraged to participate in a way that is meaningful to them. LILA parents can be found volunteering in many capacities including as: Parents’ Association officers and committee leads, Annual Fund leaders, Parent Ambassadors, Homeroom Parents, Trustees, and more.

“Having zero experience with an international education, we were curious how the French would go; it’s been amazing to see how the children have embraced it.”

Parent

“Beyond the desire to raise our children bilingually, we chose LILA because of the quality and rigor of the instruction, and because of the IB programme. LILA is outwardly focused in a way that most LA private schools aren’t, and we like the school’s values and international outlook. It’s a refreshing perspective and a healthy one for kids being raised in LA.”

Parent

“The community is the best, and that flows down from the leadership to the teachers, the staff, and the students.”

Parent

“We love LILA for the strong values that support diversity, a variety of cultures, and incredibly high academic standards.”

Parent

“The students are outstanding: worldly, bright, and outgoing.”

Teacher

“I love the LILA community. As an expatriate, you can feel isolated. LILA gave me a second family.”

Parent

“We love LILA because of the international community with similar values in both education and life! We don’t speak French at home and have been amazed by [our child’s] progress over the last two years.”

Parent

“Our favorite LILA memories stem from the many on-campus get-togethers organized by the school. We’ve met so many amazing friends and families through these events, which serve to enhance the sense of community we continue to experience.”

Parent

“Seeing our children so happy to come to school everyday fills us with joy and reassures us that we made the right decision to have our children attend LILA.”

Parent

“I love the openness and honesty of our students.”
