Preschool Maternelle

Our nurturing and caring approach lays the foundation for our youngest students to become confident learners, growing in community. Many of our students do not speak French at home, yet our French immersion environment puts them on the path to becoming truly bilingual.

The International School of Los Angeles follows the French Ministry of Education’s official program, adding elements that apply to our distinctive bicultural and bilingual context.

We foster individual and collective development in a nurturing environment.

Educational Framework

Learning and living in community

Discovery, autonomy and problem-solving are front and center in our bilingual preschool program. Each child grows in confidence, cultivating their ability to learn and succeed at school and beyond.

“Having zero experience with an international education, we were curious how the French would go; it’s been amazing to see how the children have embraced it.”

Parent

“Beyond the desire to raise our children bilingually, we chose LILA because of the quality and rigor of the instruction, and because of the IB programme. LILA is outwardly focused in a way that most LA private schools aren’t, and we like the school’s values and international outlook. It’s a refreshing perspective and a healthy one for kids being raised in LA.”

Parent

“The community is the best, and that flows down from the leadership to the teachers, the staff, and the students.”

Parent

“We love LILA for the strong values that support diversity, a variety of cultures, and incredibly high academic standards.”

Parent

“The students are outstanding: worldly, bright, and outgoing.”

Teacher

“I love the LILA community. As an expatriate, you can feel isolated. LILA gave me a second family.”

Parent

“We love LILA because of the international community with similar values in both education and life! We don’t speak French at home and have been amazed by [our child’s] progress over the last two years.”

Parent

“Our favorite LILA memories stem from the many on-campus get-togethers organized by the school. We’ve met so many amazing friends and families through these events, which serve to enhance the sense of community we continue to experience.”

Parent

“Seeing our children so happy to come to school everyday fills us with joy and reassures us that we made the right decision to have our children attend LILA.”

Parent

“I love the openness and honesty of our students.”
