Middle School Educational Trips & Travel
Bringing classroom learning to life
Off-campus learning is an integral part of our curriculum. Students are exposed to cultural and historical elements to bring their learning to life and allow them to make real world connections from classroom content.
Students attend theater performances of plays and novels they are reading. They visit museums all over the county, including the California Science Center, the Getty Villa and museum, and the Japanese American museum. They also attend an overnight excursion each year.
In 6th grade, students sail to Catalina Island for two nights in September to a Marine Science Learning and Ocean Adventure Camp. As students enter 6th grade from our various elementary campuses and beyond, we use this trip as a means to build community amongst the students and their teachers. Students can expect to learn about marine wildlife, participate in water activities such as snorkeling, and learn to rock climb.
Our 7th graders take an annual trip in the fall to Astrocamp science camp in Idyllwild. They spend 3 days in the mountain air performing scientific experiments, ziplining, stargazing, and making new friendships.
To culminate their middle school experience, 8th graders take an international trip to a French speaking city—Montreal, Canada! Students experience a guided tour of Montreal with French-speaking guides. Students interact with locals in French, visit cultural sites, take tours of college campuses, and, of course, eat poutine!
