LILA’s knowledgeable college counseling team supports students by helping build each student’s individual pathway, whether that’s a flagship state university, a film school in Canada, a business school in Lyon, or anywhere and everywhere in between.

Our college counseling program provides tailored guidance throughout the entire high school journey. With a personalized, engaging approach, we help students discover their strengths, explore opportunities, and achieve their academic and college goals.

Explore the comprehensive support we provide in each grade:

  • Introduction to high school, settle in, and get involved
  • Opportunities to engage in parent and student programming including: Financial Aid Night, Career Expo, and Mock Application Review Night
  • Advising available for pursuing the French Baccalauréat track or International track in 10th grade
  • Introduction to college counselors
  • Group presentations on building the applicant profile, standardized testing, career exploration, and understanding the college admission process
  • PSAT administered
  • Opportunities to participate in test preparation
  • Field trip to the National College Fair 
  • Individual course advising for upper division FB Specialty courses and IB Higher Level courses
  • Dedicated one-hour weekly course for college understanding and application preparation
  • Social-emotional learning curriculum on values, purpose, and community included through Wayfinder
  • PSAT and SAT School Day offered
  • LILA-exclusive test preparation courses offered
  • Access to colleges visits from admission representatives
  • Individual meeting and advising provided throughout the school year
  • College Essay Workshop at the end of the school year to prepare for college essay writing through the summer
  • Grade-level specific parent programming to support students through the process
  • Dedicated one-hour weekly course for application completion and support
  • In-person and online college essay review
  • Letters of recommendation provided for every student
  • Open-door support policy with college counselors
  • Access to college visits from admission representatives
